Standing Stong Exercise Class
These “low impact” physiotherapist led classes are perfect for those who would find getting on and off the floor for mat based exercises difficult, or those who have health concerns that prevent them from attending more mainstream classes.
Aims Of Class
- Improve posture
- Improve balance
- Improve general strength and co-ordination
- Facilitate activities of daily life e.g walking & stairs
- Reduce risk of falls
- Promote general well-being
- Last but not least we hope to make our courses stimulating, friendly and fun!
There are a maximum of 5 people per class. Everyone is encouraged to exercise at their own level. Exercises are carried out in standing & sitting, taking elements of pilates and yoga as well as traditional strengthening.
There is a handout of key exercises each week to enable some practice at home, as studies show that those exercising little and often (10 minutes a day, 5 times per week) have significantly lower risk of falling and the associated ill health.
Classes run in half termly in courses of 6 or 7 weeks payable in advance.
All participants undergo an initial 1:1 consultation with one of our physiotherapists to identify keys issues, set goals and ensure that the class is appropriate for them.
